When you left with Kathy this afternoon, I thought of coming here and wondered if you had posted something new.<br />I remember years ago, when we were fairly new, trying to track down that word "cute" you used with so much frequency, and love, about so many things. It drove me a little crazy, seemed silly to my ear. It seemed no less silly hearing it come out of Jamie, but there was some way she had with it--a kind of voice depth, or lower toned vocal cord--that gave the word some kind of tremelo or something.<br />Thanks for reminding me of that way she had of singing, and the way it affected, infected, provided for others.Paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04372842442653244113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2759956480039977301.post-62392553126309853672009-06-29T20:11:04.103-07:002009-06-29T20:11:04.103-07:00There's an old zen story that's one of my ...There's an old zen story that's one of my favorites. Someone is standing by the side of the road. A horse and rider flash by, going very fast. The person standing there calls out, "Where are you going in such a hurry?" The rider yells back: "I don't know. Ask the horse."<br /><br />I think of language, writing, working from word to word as one of those ways we dismount, decide where we are going, if we are going, where we might go or want to imagine going. Your wheel is for taking you somewhere, and it spins as you do, because you do. Wheels also spin yarn, hay into gold so the story goes.Paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04372842442653244113noreply@blogger.com
